KADUNA PEACE CENTER

 Overview:

 The Kaduna Peace Centre is a Peace Resource, Conflict Resolution, Research and Training Centre of Excellence for the promotion of Peace in Kaduna, Nigeria and the World.

 Objectives

 Since the mid 1980s, Kaduna has remained a vortex for violent ethno-religious and political crises. The recent crisis of November, 2002 has made it an  imperative  that concerted effort be made  to  institutionalize  peace mechanisms, cultures of tolerance, internalize peace promoting  systems and institutions, that  will ensure peaceful  coexistence  and  conflict  resiliency  in Kaduna, Nigeria primarily  and the world in general .

 The objectives of the Kaduna Peace Center are to:

  1. Carry out research on peace and conflict

  2. Develop curricula for inculcation into all levels of education.

  3. Conduct trainings and symposia to develop conflict management skills and professionals.

  4. Provide public access to information on peace and conflict resolutions.

  5. Organize local national and international peace summits, conferences and workshops.

  6. Award local and international peace awards to individuals and organization for peace service.      

 Features

The Kaduna Peace Centre features:

 1.         Full-fledged Institutional Complex to house the centre with large expanses of land, complete with training halls, administrative blocks, accommodation complex for researchers, staff, scholars and trainees, conference hall for summits, recreational facilities, a well equipped library and internet resource centre.

 Our Mission

Our mission is to make the Kaduna Peace Centre a one-stop centre for  peace  studies  and conflict  resolution,  training,  advocacy  and intervention  on local  and international peace  efforts and conflict  intervention.

 Join Us

 About U.S. $3.75million (N500m) is required for this  project  financial  and material  contribution  can be  made for any  of the  following  areas:

  • §       Construction  Of  Fence 

  • §       Acquisition Of 5 Hectares Of  Land  In Kaduna                                

  • §       Architectural  Drawings 

  • §       Construction Of Admin. Block

  • §       Construction Of Residential  Block

  • §       Landscaping               

  • §       Library  Facilities  & Blocks  

  • §       Furniture  & Fittings  

  • §       Construction Of Road Networks

  • §       Computer  Centre Equipments

  • §       Launching  Of  Centre

Total Project Cost i.e  500million  or US$3.75millon  

Duration:  It is projected that the project would be completed in three years 2003 – 2005.

 To Finance The Project

 Individuals, governments and corporate bodies are encouraged to contribute generously in cash/ kind towards the successful completion/ establishment of the Centre. The Centre shall be sustained through a Peace Endowment Fund (PEF), contributions of peace loving individuals in Kaduna and beyond, corporate bodies, local and State government and international/bilateral agencies.

 Sponsors:

 All financial and material contributors to the project shall be called “Sponsors or partners or  Associates or Friends ” of the Kaduna Peace Centre” and are entitled  to  the following  benefits  proportionate  to their  contributions which may be one-off, periodic or in perpetuity.

Benefits of Sponsorship

  • Roads and streets will be named after contributors of $500,000 and above.

  • Buildings, library, conference hall shall be named after contribution of over $400,000

  • Halls shall be named after contribution of over $100,000

  • Rooms shall be named after contributors of $50,000 and above.

  • Names, logos of sponsors individuals, corporate bodies, governments, bilateral /multilateral and support  agencies  who  contributed  to the  project, would be  placed on  the walls  of the  Centre’s hall of sponsors  in perpetuity.

  • A sponsor award plague shall be awarded to all sponsors.

  • a pages on our website on the net shall celebrate their contributions.

  • Our publications, journals and Magazines will give one- page adverts space to all contributors.
