NGO Leadership Development & Governance (LDG) Program

Introduction

Leadership Development for NGO leaders: A Professional Development Program.

Development Clinic International (DECI) in commencing its NGO leadership development and governance (LDG) program for NGOs in 2003.

Bi-monthly workshops/training (professional development courses) shall be held throughout Nigeria.

Workshops: 5 workshops are planned for 2003: March, May, July, September and November.

 25 participants would benefit in each workshop.

 Objectives

  • To  build leadership potentials and capacity in local NGOs and  enhance their capacity for achievement

  • To ensure more efficiency and effectiveness in NGO activities.

  • To provide fora for consolidation of NGOs contribution to national development

  • To share leadership experience and ideas with a view to evolving more effective strategies for goal getting.

  • To promote professionalism, accountability and transparency. in Nigeria’s NGOs.

  • To strengthen civil society, civil liberty, democracy and   institutions for equality.

  • To encourage greater and genuine partnership and networking among local NGOs.

  • To expand the vision to accommodate globalization and build them to be significant NGOs.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Write a one page essay on a practical leadership/NGO governance topic of significance or interest to you or the NGO sector.

  • A letter of application stating why you are applying, what are your interests, expectations and what you learnt, and how you are going to disseminate  the lessons learnt and skills acquired; how your organization will benefit from the training.

  • A brief bio-data/resume of yourself

  • 1 page summary of containing:

  • Your name, your organization, your full address, email address, telephone, and fax number.

  • Focus area(s) of your organization,

  • Past currents projects website (if any)

  • Organizational contact (if different from yourself), your affiliations (if any).

  • any other relevant Information of your organization.

Note: Because of the large number of expected applications for participation in the program applicants may beselected and duly informed to attend workshops at a date other that for which they applied.

In such cases, they are at liberty to withdraw or request a different to a date more convenient to them. This should be done as soon as possible to enable the program office to proper programming and reprogramming, to give others the opportunity to participate.
